What is KryoMesh®?

Our 8 oz. KryoMesh® is a great alternative to the traditional painted in ice logo or stencils. This long-lasting material makes for easy installations and may be used over and over again. KryoMesh® also allows for logos that have gradients or soft shadows – something that’s next to impossible to do with paint.

KryoMesh® pricing is midrange, usually falling between economy paper stencils and high-end Tyvek stencils.

*Warranty depends on a variety of factors such as ice temperature, water quality, and ice maintenance. Read more about ice care below.

  • Durable
  • Logos with gradients or shadows
  • Vivid colours
  • 5 foot wide panels, up to 100 feet long
  • Easy installation
  • Reusable

Traditional Cut Stencils (Sintra/PVC)

In ice stencils cut from thin PVC are extremely durable and reusable. As with all stencils, some letter characters require bridges (for example, the center of an “O” can’t be left floating).

PROS

  • Very long-lasting
  • Reusable for future applications

CONS

  • Best suited for simpler, single-colour designs
  • Bridging is required
  • Higher shipping costs, as the material does not roll

Pounced Stencils

Pounced stencils are most common for painted in ice logos. This method uses a perforated stencil. Chalk is applied through the holes to transfer the image, and the design is then painted. This is the most commonly used approach for detailed, multi-colour painted graphics.

AVAILABLE MATERIALS:

  • Tyvek – Easiest to work with and very reusable, but the most expensive option
  • PVC Paper – Reusable, more rigid, slightly harder to work with, but well priced
  • Outdoor Paper – Lowest cost and easy to use, but can tear and must be handled carefully if reused

Caring for your ice and logos

A great logo on clean ice doesn’t just “look nice”—it helps you raise money, impress sponsors, and make your rink look professionally run. The good news: keeping your ice and your logos looking sharp isn’t complicated. It’s about consistency and a few key habits.

Keep your ice looking its best

Daily basics:

  • Maintain consistent ice temperature and humidity (big swings cause haze, frost, and soft spots).
  • Keep entryways and high-traffic areas dry—snow and water track-in wrecks ice quality fast.
  • Remove slush and debris early (especially around doors and benches).

Weekly habits:

  • Watch for recurring “problem zones” (corners, near doors, along boards). If it’s always soft there, fix the cause—not the symptoms.
  • Check your water quality and filtration (cloudy ice can make logos look dull).

Before big events:

  • Do your best flood/finish in advance—don’t rush it right before puck drop.
  • If you’re hosting a sponsor night, plan a quick touch-up window so the ice is photo-ready.

Protecting your in ice logos

Your logos are built to perform, but the ice environment is tough. Here’s how to keep them crisp longer:

What helps:

  • Smooth, even builds of ice over the logo (uneven thickness can cause premature wear).
  • Consistent resurfacing patterns (random patterns = uneven wear).
  • Avoiding aggressive scraping directly over logo edges when possible.

What hurts:

  • Temperature swings, high humidity, and frequent soft-ice conditions.
  • Heavy snow buildup (more resurfacing = more wear).
Repeated “chop and shave” repairs in the same spot.

Common Logo Issues & What to Do

Logo looks faded

Usually wear and surface haze.
Fix: improve ice clarity and schedule a refresh if needed.

Edges look rough or chipped

Often caused by uneven ice thickness or aggressive scraping.
Fix: small repairs early prevent bigger, uglier problems later.

Bubbles or cloudy look near the logo

Usually ice quality/water/temperature-related.
Fix: address ice clarity first—logos always look better on clear ice.

Artwork Specifications

Q: What is “printready” artwork?

A: For ideal results, high resolution images that is 4,800 pixels or more. This resolution will ensure the logo does not look pixelated to someone standing on the spectator side of the dasher boards. That said, you can often get away with fewer pixels due to the ice adding a bit of “softness” to the logo and the average spectator viewing from further away.

Vector files are even better. If you have vector files, they must meet PDF-X1a compliancy. In general, that means fonts must be converted to outlines (curves, objects, etc.), colours must be CMYK or Pantones (not RGB), and transparencies or drop-shadows must be flattened.

Files that do not meet these requirements may be rejected or adjusted by our design department at additional cost. We will contact you if issues arise, but your deadline may be pushed back if the files don’t meet our specifications.

FAQ (frequently asked questions)

How long do ice logos last?

It depends on traffic, resurfacing, temperature consistency, and event schedule. With good conditions, logos stay sharp much longer and can be refreshed when needed.

Can you match our sponsor’s brand colors?

Yes—within the limits of what reads best on ice. We design for visibility first so sponsors get real value.

When’s the best time to install logos?

Before your busiest season and ahead of sponsor nights/tournaments. We can help you pick the timing that causes the least disruption.
